Frequently Asked Questions
How much can I get?
The DREAM Scholarship will award up to $2,500 per academic year, half of which is awarded each semester. We recognize that many of our students work; therefore, if you carry less than a full academic load of 12 hours, the amount is prorated. We will also adjust to provide flexibility for summer sessions and similar situations. Awards are renewable, and some recipients have received $10,000 over a four-year period.
Do I qualify?
Scholarships are awarded to people who have a close connection to Henderson County AND are required to pay out-of-state tuition to attend public colleges in North Carolina. The scholarship can be used for public or private schools in any state. While many applicants have DACA status, it is not required.
How do you decide who gets a scholarship?
Many factors are considered, including a student’s application, high school performance, and letters of recommendation. After review, the Committee invites candidates for a brief interview before making a decision.
